Miami One

2017 – Expansion Development

Queen Street Village
Drift Syndicate

Miami One shopping center and apartment complex planned to construct a three story expansion on top of an existing structure. The expansion comprised of twenty seven new apartments. During work on this project I created six still and three animated architectural visualisation renders of the interior and exterior of the planned expansion, for off the plan advertising.

Project

The clients, the video production team and I discussed the direction that the advertising material was going to take. From our meetings I was able to plan the renders for the project along with the optimal time of day to make each render look its best. Throughout the project I coordinated with the clients and video production team to ensure the renders were progressing in a satisfactory manor, and that the animations I created would integrate seamlessly with the footage that was being shot for the video advertisements.

Practical

Since there was already a structure that the expansion was going to be constructed on top of, this afforded me the opportunity to set up a camera perfectly for capturing background plates for the renders and gigapixel scale 360 degree HDRI panoramas for realistic and accurate lighting information for the 3D objects in the renders. I also coordinated with the video production team to have a drone sent up near Miami One to capture a sunset shot for the exterior render of the development. Throughout the project I was in communication with the architects and material suppliers for the project, organising and collecting the technical drawings, collecting sample swatches and products as they were finalised.

Digital

The building and rooms were accurately recreated using the plans provided by the architect. All of the fittings were modeled from the specifications of the suppliers datasheets. Paints, carpets and tiles were digitised from samples provided by suppliers. The photos taken at Miami One were processed into gigapixel HDRI’s to light the renders and the backgrounds were composited in to complete the final look.
