Lato Baia

2019 – Development

Previouse Film & TV
Queen Street Village

The Lato Baia development is comprised of a five story apartment complex above a cinema and cafe. For this project I created nine still and seven animated architectural visualisation renders of the interior and exterior. These renders were used in off the plan advertising for the yet to be constructed building.

Project

My initial meeting with the clients and the video production team discussed the desired look for the advertising material for the development. The clients knew which rooms they wished to have included in the interior renders but left specifics up to me. They also required several exterior renders and chose to defer most of the design decisions to me. I visited the development location and reviewed the floor plans to decide which would be the best apartments and orientation to show off each of the rooms the clients wanted.

Practical

The video production team went on location to film the area around the development for use in the advertising materials. I provided the video production team with a list of shots I would need for the background plates of the renders, this list included heights and orientations. Capturing the back plates at the same time as they were filming the rest of the on location footage meant that the lighting and background plates would match the rest of the footage perfectly.

Digital

The building and rooms in the renders were built to the correct dimensions using the plans provided by the architect. I was brought on very early to the project, fittings and finishes weren’t finalised by the time the renders were required to be completed. The clients outlined fittings and finishes for the interiors and exteriors and from that information I looked at many available products and created versions of them that fit within the client brief and were versatile enough that they could be adjusted later on in the process if needed. The drone photos captured by the video production team were composited into the backgrounds of the renders to complete the final look.
